VOGUE

greta garbo

i try to think back to when i first learned about marilyn monroe, marlene dietrich, james dean, grace kelly. for someone who was born round the 80s, i had, or rather, let’s say have – an undeniable love for everything old and vintage, glamour and hollywood, the beautifying and devastating, somehow feeling kindred to their stories. how did i come to know these incredibles and fall in love with them? when did i learn the words to Madonna’s ‘Vogue?’ honestly, i don’t even know. but know that i can kick off my favorite verses like i was on a hollywood stage myself. and so without denying it, i am forever in love with these lines, and each time i hear this tune begin, i will get chills and a certain type of strut emerges, regardless of where i am – even so at times, i wish to break out in song and dance…i admire these stars and there are many more not listed (but let’s give ode to ‘vogue’). they are forever etched, no rewriting, but the originals of it all.
