THE LUXE OBSESSIONS

MASKED GLORY

a surplus of affections, extremities, destitute sadness and overwhelming joy. spotlight artist: Sylvia Ji, enigmatic and galvanizing of human emotion. you can see her appreciation for the culture and people surrounding. believe it, these are paintings. realistic as ever, and seemingly crafted by some other medium, yet, she effortlessly manages to bait, reel and engage. these pieces have appearing influences from central america, a bit of frida kahlo, the rouge of skulls, the costume of Tehuantepec and the day of the dead. inspiring. delicious. i can see these transformed into a photographs. i would love to be made up as these…i find them seductive, alluring, sensuous and i am drawn in, spun round, and in Sylvia Ji’s world. i am obsessed with these visions.

dark and beautiful.
